Indian culture represented with icons.
The Indian Pictogram Project came about as a way to express Indian objects through the medium of graphic design. Indian products are amazingly cool, and the icons reflect the same quintessential energy of Indian design.
Product design is all the rage now, and we have cool products from all over the world. But back in the old 'desh', there used to be so many interesting objects used in Indian culture. Some of them are still used today, while others are vintage. We decided to make use of this charming past and add fun to our present with some graphical magic.
Unity in diversity is the Indian mantra.
The same had to be done with the icons. To do that, we built the icons on a 256 x 256 grid, by following the app icon grid, which is where most of the icons are used today. We also have two line weights going on each icon, in order to add that little bit of sweet detail.
Devshree was involved with the research and listing of icons, sketching them out, and converting them to digital icons.
As Graphic Designer from Roar Studios, Priyasha was involved with refinement of the icon designs, and creating website graphics for this website.
As Graphic Designer and Illustrator from Roar Studios, Vishal was involved with the refinement of the icon designs.
